From Jeremy Gentile, Assoc. AIA: AIAspire, the STUDENT LEADERSHIP SUMMIT of AIA Illinois, is an event that many students anticipate each year. Connecting students to thoughts, skills, and each other, the event aims to empower the next generation of leaders. This year showcased the creative thinking architects can bring to neighborhoods such as Pullman, as shown by Ciere Boatwright‘s empowering keynote address. In addition, attendees were exposed to the construction process through a job site tour thanks to Power Construction, in addition a slate of sessions including a portfolio review and a Chicago Riverwalk tour. The knowledge gained will impact the students for years to come.
Now in its second year, AIA Illinois hosted an EMERGING PROFESSIONALS SUMMIT at Partners by Design in Chicago. Welcoming EPs from around that state, nearly 25 members explored the themes of ‘Elevating Connections’ and ‘Shaping Leadership’ through a variety of thought-provoking sessions. In addition to these professional growth opportunities, roundtables discussing the future of Advocacy, Planning and Awareness took place. After a Keynote Presentation by Stacey Pfingsten, AIA IL EVP; and Peter Exely, FAIA, 2021 AIA National President; attendees enjoyed a cocktail hour and networking reception!
