JUST GETTING STARTED?
First thing’s first: Start your NCARB record.
The National Council of Architectural Registration Board's (NCARB) Architectural Experience Program (AXP), formerly the Intern Development Program (IDP), prepares you for a successful career in architecture.

After you establish your NCARB record, use your AIA transcript to track your AXP experience hours.
AIA Continuing Education courses can be used for some of your elective AXP hours. 1 AIA HSW Learning Unit or Continuing Education Unit equals 1 AXP experience hour. For helpful information about the AXP program, visit https://www.aia.org/pages/2661-axp-resources.
Planning to take the Architecture Registration Examination (ARE)?
You must complete an application with the State of Illinois prior to taking the ARE.

Emerge by AIAU provides emerging professionals with online video-based education courses for HSW credit, supplying knowledge that is not always available at firms on a number of topics including economics, ethics, and sustainability. Emerge by AIAU is free for Assoc. AIA members. AIA members receive a discounted price of $25.
