AIA Illinois is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as the Alliances and Development Manager. This crucial role involves driving new partnership development, enhancing sponsorship and fundraising efficiency, managing chapter operations, and fostering community engagement. The successful candidate will play an integral role in identifying and engaging new partners, overseeing non-dues activities, and supporting outreach efforts. This position is pivotal to AIA Illinois' future impact and sustainability.


  • Develop and maintain deep, strategic, year-round relationships with partners, sponsors, advertisers, exhibitors, and donors.

  • Drive revenue through new partnerships and expanding current partnerships.

  • Track results, analyze progress, and make recommendations and oversee assigned activities.

  • Develop and implement a dynamic non-dues strategy for the organization.

  • Create online and traditional solicitation campaigns.

  • Maintain accurate database records for all AIA Illinois partnerships/sponsorships and AIA Illinois Foundation donations.

  • Basic accounting tasks including processing of payables and receivables and assisting with budget implementation

  • Coordinate financial collaboration between AIA Illinois, AIA Illinois Foundation, and the Illinois Architects Political Action Committee

  • Support, attend, and assist with fundraising events, chapter activities, meetings seminars, and programs as assigned.

  • Collaborate with events team to achieve shared goals for exhibit and sponsorship sales.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including marketing and publications.

  • Collaborate effectively with the AIA Illinois team, involving them in all aspects of development.

  • Regularly meet with the Executive Vice President to report progress and collaborate on new partnership and sponsorship ideas.



  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, grassroots nonprofit organization.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with competing priorities.

  • Ability to ensure personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to requests.

  • High level of optimism, enthusiasm, energy, and creativity.

  • Proven ability to build, grow, and retain strong collaborative and donor relationships.

  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, or related fields.

  • Familiarity with outreach activities and grant writing is preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of nonprofit experience, preferably in a professional society setting.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, or related field. 

  • Relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Salary Range $50,000 - $60,000


Work Schedule:

  • Full-time in Springfield, IL office, 38 hours per week

  • Monday-Friday, primarily between 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

  • Travel is not expected but may be required occasionally for events

  • Regular attendance at virtual meetings and trainings
