Advocacy

Working alongside industry colleagues, AIA Illinois offers a nonpartisan perspective to build partnerships, provide information, facilitate discussions of community design and ensure the integrity of public investments.

Our approach has resulted in a strong Architecture Practice Act and additional resources for development such as the 2018 passage of the statewide rehabilitation tax credit after more than a decade of faithful advocacy.

Outreach

Illinois' architectural legacy continues to grow and expand as our member architects across the state provide livable -- and sometimes breathtaking -- solutions for the way we live today.

Our programs, such as 200 Great Places and the Illinois Honor Awards for Design and Service, provide an avenue to tell Illinois' ongoing architectural story.

Leadership

The AIAspire two-day class introduces college students to architecture career paths both inside and outside of architecture firms, plus provides mentoring for portfolio and interview opportunities.

The AIA Illinois Foundation focuses both volunteer efforts and financial support to partner organizations such as AEC Cares, INOMA Project Pipeline, Hurricane Katrina and Harvey relief efforts, Chicago Women in Architecture and more.
