AIA Illinois represents a membership of more than 3,700 licensed architects and architectural interns and is the voice of the architectural profession, dedicated to serving its members, advancing their value, and improving the quality of the built environment. Membership in AIA Illinois gives you access to events and opportunities on the national, state and local chapter levels and keeps you informed of critical professional issues that may challenge your success.
Architect Member (AIA)
Individuals with an architectural license from a U.S. licensing authority are eligible for Architect Membership.
Associate Member (Assoc. AIA)
Associate AIA membership is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
- Professional degree in architecture (Recent graduate information)
- Currently work under the supervision of an architect
- Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working toward licensure
- Faculty member in a university program in architecture
International Associate Architect Member (Int'l Assoc. AIA)
Individuals who have an architecture license or equivalent from a non-U.S. licensing authority are eligible for International
Associate Membership.
Allied Member of AIA Illinois (Allied Member of AIA Illinois)
Allied members are employed outside of traditional architectural practice, but are involved in positions allied to the field. They have an established professional reputation, and include engineers, planners, landscape architects, and those involved in manufacturing or industry. Allied Members also include those employed by firms in the construction industry who are engaged in research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, distribution, or training. Individuals must not be otherwise eligible for membership in AIA Illinois.
