AIA members regularly donate a portion of their time and talents to the broader community. The AIA Illinois Board of Directors has begun a tradition of working together through a Service Project on the day prior to the official quarterly board meeting.
We’ve participated together in a wide range of projects, including building picnic tables so that the women and children living at a shelter in Rockford could enjoy lunch and activities outside. Another time we power-washed old planks and took out nails so that lumber could be repurposed by Rebuilding Exchange in Chicago. And we packed 29,000 meals for Feed My Starving Children one afternoon.
Illinois members gave back in a big way on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at AEC Cares, to help kick off the 2014 Convention in Chicago.
